Why it Matters:
Yesterday, Syrian human rights monitors Fadel Abdul Ghany of the Syrian Network for Human Rights and Husam Alkatlaby of the Violations Documentation Center presented UN investigators from the independent international Commission of Inquiry on Syria with detailed evidence of Russian and Iranian war crimes in Aleppo. Alkatlaby and Abdul Ghany are joining the White Helmets and the Independent Doctors Association to demand an impartial investigation of Russian and Iranian atrocities in the formerly besieged city. The groups are calling on the United States to release evidence of Russia’s flight patterns in Aleppo to further corroborate the crimes committed and ensure future accountability.
