Pierrepont “PJ” Johnson – New York, 2018-19

Pierrepont “PJ” Johnson joined ID in September 2018. PJ holds a dual master’s degree from Fordham University: MA International Political Economy and Development, and MA Economics. His concentration during his graduate studies was in development economics. Pierrepont is interested in the overlap of economics and diplomacy as a supplementary form of conflict resolution.

During his graduate studies, Pierrepont received various awards, including a language scholarship award where he studied French in Lyon, France, and a fellowship to study emerging markets in Pretoria, South Africa. Pierrepont also spent a year living in Florence, Italy where he worked with a company that provided cultural experiences for American students studying abroad. In addition to his work with ID, Pierrepont founded Shabadu SC, a non-profit that organizes fundraising events for New York based organizations that focus on poverty and development.

Pierrepont credits his parents who are both social activists as his influence. Pierrepont also speaks Ilonggo, his mother’s native tongue, and is currently studying Spanish.
