Independent Diplomat (ID), the world’s first diplomatic advisory group, is seeking an experienced and creative part-time public relations and communications professional to promote ID in a wide variety of public forums.  The position will provide guidance and support to the Director of Development and External Relations to  expand the public’s knowledge and awareness of ID; strengthen and expand our network of supporters; and increase support for ID’s mission.  This new position offers an exciting opportunity to strategically position ID in the public and provide overall promotion of ID to a wide variety of audiences.  The successful candidate will have strong experience in creating and implementing public relation campaigns, cause marketing and media messaging and dissemination; combined with political judgement and fluency in international relations with a commitment to ID’s values of inclusion and justice in diplomacy.

The Public Relations Coordinator will act as an integral part of the worldwide ID team including locations in New York, London and Brussels; and staff in Sydney and Hargeisa.  The Coordinator will work under the direction of the Director of Development and External Relations and work closely with the Executive Director and Project Leaders to develop and implement public relations and media strategies to achieve ID’s organizational objectives.  The Coordinator will assist the Development and External Relations staff to create and execute public events and outreach to achieve communications goals in line with ID’s mission, vision and brand.

The position will provide an exciting opportunity to advance ID’s critical work to deliver advice and assistance to governments, political groups and NGOs across the three pillars of contemporary diplomacy: political and diplomatic strategy, international law and public diplomacy. ID works inside the diplomatic system to ensure that the voices of the people most affected by international decisions are heard in the negotiations about their futures.
