Iolanda Joltopuf is Independent Diplomat’s Geneva-based Policy Advisor. In this role, she works to provide targeted strategic advice to partners wishing to achieve meaningful and impactful engagement within the multilateral system. She is the current Lead on ID’s Rohingya project.

Iolanda came to ID after nearly eight years of working for the Government of Canada at the Permanent Mission of Canada to the UN in Geneva with a focus on Human Rights, Environment and Legal Affairs, working on such themes as the Human Rights Council, the Universal Periodic Review, Treaty Bodies, and IHL. She also developed streamlined processes within Global Affairs Canada and improved working methods and efficiencies between Geneva and New York; work which led to assignments at UNGA’s 3rd Committee.

Iolanda holds an Executive Master (LLM) in International Law of Armed Conflict from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights and has been living in Switzerland for 12 years.
